I wouldn´t like giving my credit card number via internet; it isn´t safe at all!
Many German shops doing business by internet are therefore accepting cheques. Purchasing may
last a few days longer, but it´s safer. Others (like amazon.de) can be paid with an
"Einzugsremächtigung" (what´s the English word?), which works fine too.
